Food Basket Packing

food basketFor more than six decades, American Legion Post 290 with assistance of the Stafford County Schools has been able to provide boxes filled with enough food for a nice holiday meal and more to families in our County that need a little extra help this holiday season. This past year, in addition to more than 300 families receiving a food box, several community food banks, including St. Peter’s, restock their shelves. The event takes place on December 14, 15, and 16th, starting at 0800 AM each day until completed. Located at 1204 American Legion Drive, Stafford, VA.

Disaster Recpetion Center Exercise

Stafford County Needs YOU to Volunteer!  On July 26th Stafford County will conduct a full scale exercise of its  ability to cope with the aftermath of a major disaster.  Our own Disaster Reception Center is a main player.  Success of the exercise depends on having enough volunteers to play the role of disaster survivors needing help.  As his Eagle project Patrick Griffin from our  Boy Scout Troop 850 is recruiting volunteer role-players of all ages.  To participate you only need to be able to get on and off a school bus and get yourself to Shirley Heim Middle School by 8 AM on the 26th.  Patrick has set up this link for signups:  http://www.signupgenius.com/go/4090f4caba723a1fe3-ftx17 .  See Rich Dunn with questions.
