Looking for volunteers to help with the American Legion Stafford Post 290 Annual Christmas Basket Program. Over the past seven decades, American Legion Stafford Post 290 with the help of numerous volunteers has been able to provide a holiday meal to veterans and the less fortunate families in Stafford County. To date, we are expecting to provide approximately 175 Christmas meals. As in years past, the parents of Stafford County students, teachers, and school administrators will collect canned food and staples and Post 290 will provide perishables (bread, potatoes, cooking oil, flour, and average 10lb. turkeys). Any leftover food donations will be divided and donated to community food pantries. St. Peter’s Food Pantry is one of the organizations that receives the excess food. This program could not happen without Post 290 and the Stafford County Schools, but much needed assistance from you is essential in areas such as food distribution area set-up, food collection box pick-up, sorting of food for families, packing food baskets, and clean-up. Community Service Letters are available for those who request them. Lunch and refreshments will be provided each day.
The Location is at the “old” post: 1204 American Legion Rd, Stafford, Virginia 22554
