“Marked with the Cross of Christ Forever, We are Called to Share God’s Love through Worship, Witness, and Service.”
What does this mean?
We are Children of God, sealed by the Holy Spirit, and marked with the Cross of Christ forever.
In Holy Baptism our gracious heavenly Father liberates us from sin and death by joining us to the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. We are born children of a fallen humanity; in the waters of Baptism we are reborn children of God and inheritors of eternal life. By water and the Holy Spirit we are made members of the Church, which is the body of Christ. As we live with Him and with His people, we grow in faith, love, and obedience to the will of God.
As Lutherans we acknowledge that if we have faith and are sincerely repentant, God forgives our sins through grace, a free gift paid for by our Savior Jesus Christ. It is with this knowledge and the joy of the Holy Spirit working in our hearts and minds, that we, as His grateful children, are called to action.
We gather together to worship and to hear, share, and live the teachings of Jesus Christ. With the help of the Holy Spirit, we recognize all people as God’s people, and as a confession of our faith, we reach out in Christ’s name to share the love of God. As ministers of Christ, we are an example and extend to the community friendship, unity, and Christian love.
We worship and receive the Sacraments regularly, witness for Christ through Christian education, joyful fellowship, prayer, support and service. Recognizing our need for personal growth and understanding of God’s Word for us, we commit ourselves to active participation in the life and ministry of this congregation.
This is most certainly true.
Romans 11: 6 His choice is based on his grace, not on what they have done. For if God’s choice were based on what people do, then his grace would not be real grace. TEV
